2023 New Orleans Film Society Gala

It’s a fundraiser, y’all. A tasty, classy, sexy one – the best kind.

The New Orleans Film Society is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and to host massive events like the New Orleans Film Festival and the upcoming French Film Festival, the scope of the gala helps to support the costs that support Louisiana filmmakers.

The 2023 NOFS Gala will take place at the New Orleans Lakefront Airport on Saturday, April 22nd. The Patron Party – AKA the “get lubricated and acquaint yourself” – takes place from 5:30 to 7 p.m. and the gala will go the remainder of the evening from 7 to midnight.

The 2023 Gala will honor Director and New Orleans-native Edward Buckles Jr., who wrote and directed Katrina Babies, a documentary that won the 2022 Human Nature Award at Tribeca and tells the story of the trauma, healing, and Black identity of Buckles and his generation that grew up in New Orleans post-Katrina. The Gala will also honor New Orleans Location Scout and NOFS Vice-president Elston Howard, who started his filmmaking career with Oliver Stone’s JFK in 1991.

Visit the NOFS Gala page to view the tickets and VIP tables that give attendees access to New Orleans dishes, craft cocktails, live music, and public acknowledgment. There’s a price on the ticket – the satisfaction of supporting independent filmmakers is free.
