Director and Fable House’s own Misty Talley to host NOVAC editing workshop
When beads and faded revelry are all that remain strewn about the French Quarter, there will still be a constant that was the same as last week:
The Louisiana independent filmmaker who sits up in a room, pouring over fragments and shots as they edit together a film. Or maybe they’re writing. Or fundraising. Whatever stage of a project, the network for Louisiana filmmakers is always moving, educating, and creating.
Director and Editor Misty Talley will host the workshop “Editing Theory in Practice” at the NOVAC campus in New Orleans on Thursday, March 2nd from 6 to 9 p.m.
So, the filmmaker that’s sitting down in the basement with a Macbook – here’s a formal opportunity to meet some fellow editors and graduate your skillset to another level.
The “Editing Theory in Practice” workshop is an intermediate course and will cover editing theory, analyzing coverage, cutting compelling conversations, creating tension, coherent action beats, and even editing with VFX plates. The session will also focus on helping filmmakers improve their Adobe Premiere Pro skills.
Misty Talley has been directing shorts, documentaries, and feature-length films since 2011, and became the first woman director of a Syfy original film with Zombie Shark. She has edited 29 feature films and also works as a VFX editor.
General admission is $30 or $25 for NOVAC members and filmmakers can register here.
